Install the matching plugin and client from the latest release.

  1. 01

    Install the plugin

    Add the custom repository in Dalamud, install XIVChatNext Server, log in to a character and enable your connection.

  2. 02

    Open the desktop app

    Extract the Windows ZIP and run XIVChat Desktop.exe. Choose language, connection and notification preferences.

  3. 03

    Connect and confirm

    Use the game PC’s address or a relay invitation. Compare fingerprints and confirm trust on both ends.

01 · DIRECT

Your game is within reach.

On the same computer or a reachable local network, connect straight to the game plugin.

  • Compare fingerprints and save device trust
02 · OPTIONAL RELAY

Meet at your own server.

If the game PC is not directly reachable, both ends can connect to a relay you host.

  • English/Chinese web administration
  • Create devices, issue invitations and view sessions
  • Saved authorization survives normal restarts

Both modes need the game running, a logged-in character and the plugin. A relay does not replace game login.

Before your
first connection.

Can I chat with the game closed?

Live sending, friend updates and screenshots depend on the running game plugin. Locally saved history can still be read offline.

Do I need a new invitation after each restart?

No. Invitations establish initial pairing. Their expiry does not revoke already saved credentials. Re-pair after revoked/lost credentials, cleared configuration or an endpoint identity change.

Which languages are supported?

The website and application UI are available in English and Simplified Chinese. New plugin configurations default to English. The desktop package keeps English, Japanese, German, Chinese and French runtime resources.

Where is my history stored?

On the desktop computer, organized by character. Favorites and notes also stay local. The optional relay is not a cloud history service.

Is this an official FFXIV application?

No. XIVChat Next is an independent community project based on XIVChat and is not affiliated with Square Enix.
