XIVChat Next Desktop 1.6.2
- Free copy across messages: a toggle with a copy icon in conversation and channel headers (Free copy in popout menus) shows the chat as plain text, one
time [channel] sender: messageline per loaded message. Drag across any range or press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C; toggle again to return. New messages appear once free copy is off. Streamer mode hides names here too, and changing streamer mode turns free copy off.
Installed clients update from Settings → Updates → Download and install. For a new installation, run XIVChatNext-win-Setup.exe, or extract the portable XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.6.2-win-x64.zip into a new folder. The plugin stays at 1.8.0 and the relay is unchanged. The .nupkg, releases.win.json, assets.win.json and RELEASES files are used by installed clients to update.
Validation: 157 core/storage, 35 update and 130 Windows UI checks passed, followed by user-confirmed testing of the preview package. Release packages were rebuilt from the release commit (version numbers and documentation only); checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
Plugin 1.8.0 · Desktop 1.6.0
- Windows installer with in-app updates:
XIVChatNext-win-Setup.exeinstalls for the current user in%LOCALAPPDATA%\XIVChatNextwithout administrator rights and adds desktop and Start menu shortcuts. When a new version is out, choose Download and install in Settings → Updates: nothing downloads until you click it, then the client closes normally and restarts on the new version. The installer is not code-signed, so Windows may show SmartScreen; choose More info → Run anyway. The portable ZIP is still available but does not update itself. - Encryption v2: fresh keys for every connection, mutual proof of identity and per-direction counters. Recorded traffic can no longer be replayed into a new connection, and past sessions stay private if a key leaks later. Fingerprints are unchanged. The client falls back to v1 for older plugins with a warning; the plugin's new Allow clients using old encryption (v1) setting (on by default) can turn v1 off.
- Chat exports: Markdown (.md) alongside text and RTF. Channels use interface-language names, and linkshells show their real names (
[Cross-world Linkshell [1] · Shell name]). Export opens from conversation and channel headers and from Settings → History. - Translation and AI summaries (optional, off by default): right-click a message to translate it with free Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, DeepL, Baidu, Tencent or AI. Summaries use Claude with your own Anthropic API key or any OpenAI-compatible service, including a local or LAN model, and can head a Markdown export. Only what you choose is sent; keys are encrypted with DPAPI.
- Plugin screenshot switch: Allow clients to request game screenshots in the plugin's Messages tab (on by default).
- Smaller client folder: the bundled .NET runtime moved to
runtime, leaving about 130 files beside the executable instead of about 360.
Run XIVChatNext-win-Setup.exe (recommended; settings and history are kept, and later versions update from inside the client), or extract XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.6.0-win-x64.zip into a new folder. Update the Dalamud plugin to 1.8.0 at the same time. The relay is unchanged; use the existing relay deployment assets. The .nupkg, releases.win.json, assets.win.json and RELEASES files are used by installed clients to update.
Validation: 157 core/storage, 35 update, 30 AI, 13 protocol, 22 plugin network, 8 plugin chat-conversion and 119 Windows UI checks passed, followed by user-confirmed live testing of the preview packages and an installer update. Release packages were rebuilt from the release commit (version numbers and documentation only); checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
XIVChat Next Desktop 1.6.1
- AI summary without exporting: conversation and channel headers have a new AI summary button, also in the main menu and popout menus (shown only when Settings → Translation & AI is on). It starts with the last day; adjust the time range or keyword, choose Summarize, and read or copy the result in the window. No file is saved.
Installed 1.6.0 clients update from Settings → Updates → Download and install. For a new installation, run XIVChatNext-win-Setup.exe, or extract the portable XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.6.1-win-x64.zip into a new folder. The plugin stays at 1.8.0 and the relay is unchanged. The .nupkg, releases.win.json, assets.win.json and RELEASES files are used by installed clients to update.
Validation: 157 core/storage, 35 update, 30 AI and 124 Windows UI checks passed, followed by user-confirmed testing of the preview package. Release packages were rebuilt from the release commit (version numbers and documentation only); checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
Plugin 1.7.17 · Desktop 1.5.0
- Tray and global shortcut: optionally keep running in the notification area when the main window closes. Click the icon to show or hide the window, right-click to exit, hover to see unread tells. An optional global shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+X by default, configurable) shows the window with the composer focused and hides it when it is already in front. Both are off by default; see Settings → Window.
- Protected device key: the client's private key is encrypted with Windows DPAPI for the current user. Existing configurations migrate on first start, and the plain-text backup is replaced.
- Same-PC connections by default: new plugin configurations listen on 127.0.0.1 only. To connect from another computer on your network, turn on Allow LAN connections in the plugin's Connection settings. Configurations from 1.7.16 or earlier keep LAN access turned on. Relay connections are unaffected.
- Fewer repeated trust prompts: each address may hold 4 unauthenticated connections, 1 pending trust prompt and 3 prompts per minute.
- The client now runs on .NET 10; the package remains self-contained.
Extract XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.5.0-win-x64.zip into a new folder, close the previous client and run XIVChat Desktop.exe. Update the Dalamud plugin to 1.7.17, or extract latest.zip for developer loading. The relay is unchanged; use the existing relay deployment assets. After the key migration, 1.4.x clients cannot read the configuration; back up %APPDATA%\XIVChat for Windows first if you may roll back.
Validation: 147 core/storage, 26 update, 13 plugin network and 94 Windows UI checks passed, followed by user-confirmed live testing of the preview packages. Release packages were rebuilt from the release commit (version numbers and documentation only); checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
Plugin 1.7.16 · Desktop 1.4.0
- Fixed CN item-link messages disappearing when an English data sheet was unavailable. Optional item/map metadata failures and formatting errors now preserve chat text.
- Added contact nicknames and persistent streamer mode across chat, popouts, history, favorites, notifications, copy and exports, including Chinese names, cross-world names and linked emotes.
- Added a game-symbol picker beside Send. Symbols replace the selection or insert at the cursor without sending.
- Fixed disconnected chat overflowing into the composer and temporary blank popouts during message bursts.
Download and extract XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.4.0-win-x64.zip for Windows. Update the Dalamud plugin to 1.7.16, or extract latest.zip for developer loading. The relay is unchanged; use the existing relay deployment assets.
History migration from v5 to v6 creates a backup; rollback requires the previous configuration and database. Previously unrecorded messages cannot be recovered automatically. Streamer mode leaves original local history intact and does not redact game screenshots, input fields or unrecognized free text.
Validation: 147 core/storage checks, 68 Windows UI checks and 7 CN plugin-data checks passed, followed by user-confirmed live retesting. These are the tested packages; checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
XIVChat Next Desktop 1.4.1
- Added a background startup update check and a dismissible main-window reminder.
- Added Settings → Updates with manual checks, the current version, release notes and Windows download links. Startup checks can be disabled; the preference saves immediately.
- Compare stable desktop ZIP versions independently of plugin tags. Ignore drafts, prereleases and plugin-only releases. Failed checks do not interrupt chat, and checks send no character or chat information.
- Downloads open in your browser; the running client is never replaced automatically.
Download and extract XIVChatNext-Desktop-v1.4.1-win-x64.zip into a new folder, close the previous client and run XIVChat Desktop.exe. Local settings and history are retained. Clients on 1.4.0 or earlier must download this update manually to gain the built-in checker.
Continue using plugin 1.7.16. The relay deployment is unchanged.
Validation: 26 update checks and 80 Windows UI checks passed, plus a read-only check against the public GitHub release API. This is the tested package; checksums are included in SHA256SUMS.txt.
