Download

You need both parts: the Windows client on the computer you chat from, and the Dalamud plugin in the game. Use matching versions from the same release.

WINDOWS CLIENT

XIVChat Next Desktop 1.6.2

Download installer

Run XIVChatNext-win-Setup.exe. It installs for your Windows account only, needs no administrator rights and adds desktop and Start menu shortcuts.
The installer is not code-signed, so Windows may show SmartScreen: choose More info → Run anyway.
Later versions install from Settings → Updates → Download and install. Windows 10 or 11, x64; .NET is included. Item and map cards use Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

Prefer not to install? The portable ZIP runs from any folder but does not update itself. Download the portable ZIP ↓

DALAMUD PLUGIN

XIVChatNext Server 1.8.0

In Dalamud settings → Experimental → Custom plugin repositories, add the address below and save.
Install XIVChatNext Server from the plugin installer, log in to a character and enable the connection.
Dalamud updates the plugin automatically afterwards.

Upgrading

Installed clients (1.6.0 and later) update from Settings → Updates. Nothing downloads until you choose Download and install; the client then restarts on the new version.
Coming from a ZIP version? Run the installer once. Settings and history are kept, because they live outside the program folder.
Staying with the portable ZIP: close the client, back up %APPDATA%\XIVChat for Windows and %LOCALAPPDATA%\XIVChatDesktop, and extract the new version into a separate folder. Never mix DLLs from different versions.

Optional self-hosted relay

Only needed when the client cannot reach the game PC directly. The relay is not updated in every release. Read the relay guide ↗
